A Cultural Art That Promotes School Readiness

Summary
This article provides a literature review on oral storytelling and suggestions for the use of oral storytelling to promote school readiness and early literacy skills by young children. The author concludes that early childhood educators should view oral storytelling as an art form in which children express their individuality and their cultural background. This article appeared in Young Children, Volume 61.
